Tired of the devil beating up on you? Tired of him knowing what you’ll do before you do it and preempting your efforts? Tired of him blocking your prayers. God gave you a very powerful weapon. The devil fears this weapon. He knows God gave it to us for empowerment. What is this weapon? It’s praying in tongues.
I’m not referring just to the initial sign of speaking in tongues that come with receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Instead, I’m referring to the daily exercise of praying in tongues that Paul discusses in the New Testament.
If you discipline yourself to pray consistently in tongues you will experience four life-changing benefits:
Praying in tongues enables you to hear from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:10)
One of the greatest benefits of praying in tongues is hearing from the Holy Spirit. This benefit occurs because of the spiritual gift Paul called the interpretation of tongues, which typically works in tandem with praying in tongues.
God uses praying in tongue and interpreting tongues to impart wisdom and reveal mysteries. He uses them to help you know and understand things that no one told you. He uses them to help you decide such important questions as who to marry, whether to take a job, when to make a move and so on.
Praying in tongues builds you up and edifies your faith (1 Corinthians 14:4, Jude 20)
Another benefit of praying in tongues is it edifies you. It charges you up like charging up a dead car battery. After you pray in tongues for a while, you’ll feel like you’re able to conquer anything. Nothing will seem insurmountable.
Praying in tongues also edifies your faith. Sometimes your faith needs a boost from all the work it does. Praying in tongues renews your faith and keeps it sizzling for more exploits.
Praying in tongues enables you to offer God secret prayers (1 Corinthians 14:2, 14)
When you pray in tongues, you’re speaking secrets to God. Your mind doesn’t understand what you’re saying. Satan doesn’t understand what you’re saying either. He cannot, therefore, block your prayers as he did Daniel the Prophet (Daniel 10).
Recall how God gave Daniel a vision. The vision caused Daniel to pray and fast for Israel for twenty-one days. After which, the archangel Gabriel appeared to Daniel. He explained that God dispatched him twenty-one days earlier with the meaning of the vision. However, the Prince of Persia, a demonic territorial spirit, held him up until God dispatched the archangel, Michael.
Praying in tongues eliminates the possibility of satan blocking your answer as he did Daniel because satan doesn’t know what to block.
Praying in tongues enables you to offer God perfect prayers with the aid of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:26-27)
Let’s face it: sometimes we don’t know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it as we should. We know what our needs are but may not know how to pray effectively for God to meet our needs.
The Holy Spirit to the rescue. He always knows what and how to pray because He knows the Will of God and can pray in perfect conformity to it. Praying in tongues allows Him to assist us in offering God perfect prayers.
Conclusion
I hope you have a better understanding of the benefits of praying in tongues. God placed this mighty spiritual weapon in your spiritual armament to give you yet another means of living victoriously over satan. Use it daily and watch it take your life to the next level. It will help you become a mighty warrior in the Kingdom of God. Guaranteed.
